REI is a leading retailer of outdoor gear and clothing, dedicated to inspiring, educating and outfitting their customers and the community for a lifetime of outdoor adventures. Their "roots" in the outdoors, began as a mountaineering cooperative in 1938.

In March 2009, REI donated 14,728 backpacks to Sichuan earthquake area students. Giving Hand assisted REI to complete their goal. Giving Hand completed their Chinese customs process, found free warehouse and logistic for these backpacks. When the backpacks arrived in Chengdu, Givinghand worked with Sichuan Charity Federation to distribute all the backpacks to 6 different city and counties in the earthquake areas. During the distribution process Giving Hand monitored the entire process, making sure all backpacks went to students, not for other use. When completed a final report to REI was delivered, including "thank you"s, photos and detailed delivery information.

International Finance Corporation - Furniture Project

International Finance Corporation (IFC) is a member of the World Bank Group. Their vision is that people should have the opportunity to escape poverty and improve their lives. IFC aids economic growth in developing countries by financing private sector investment, mobilizing capital in the international financial markets, and providing advisory services to businesses and governments.

IFC located in Chengdu, China was moving to a new office location. They had a choice - either sell all of their office furniture or donate it. Donation was their final decision.

Giving Hand found a charity organization that could use their furniture - The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies East Asia Regional Delegation who received a collection of furniture including file cabinets, a conference table, office chairs, a roundtable, end tables on June 2, 2009.

ACE Insurance wanted to donate 18 enormous tents to people in China to need them. Giving Hand connected with the Tibet Development Fund, an organization that would like to get these tents into areas where there is much poverty. We found a free warehouse for the storage of the tents which will be delivered during the winter which always has a blizzard disaster.
